A new Harry Potter series is in development, announced during Warner Bros. Discovery's April 12 presentation.

HBO Max and Discovery+ will be combined into a new streaming service called Max, as reported by Variety.

News of a show based on J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter book series leaked on April 3.

Details of the show have now been confirmed by Warner Bros. Discovery.

Each season of the show will be based on one of the books in the franchise.

The show is described as a "decade-long series" by Warner Bros. Discovery.

"We're thrilled to offer audiences a fresh way to experience Hogwarts," said Casey Bloys, HBO & Max Content CEO.

"Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon, and this new Max Original series will explore each iconic book," said Warner Bros. Television and J.K. Rowling.

Max, Bronte Film & TV, and Warner Bros. TV will produce, with Rowling and others as executive producers.

The announcement ends speculation on a Harry Potter TV adaptation, a franchise popular in various media since 1997.
